Loved the cue ideas. While I've definitely heard the pearl necklace and child's toy...some of the others are new to me. I'll try them out and see how the students like them. I also go back and forth between cuing with these types of images and directing people to what sensation they should be feeling. I love being imaginative with the cues, but want to get too flowery...I like just keeping it simple if at all possible. Great blog, btw, really enjoyed the few articles I've read so far.

Hello Pilates Enthusiast,

Great post by the way. Pilates has been growing in popularity recently, especially with regard to helping people overcome specific problems, such as back pain and piles. Some people do however feel intimidated about learning the art of Pilates. We've built a unique system, Pilates for Beginners.

Best regards, Lee.

I question the effect of imagination on movement. The more subtle aspect of directing the body's moves would be the sensation that the attention creates wherever the attention is directed to in the body. Nevertheless, some imaginative images have had the effect of awakening me to another reality I had not used previously. Joe was on to something more than just exercises. Isacowitz seems to be, as well.

Natalie-
Mud is a GREAT metaphor for isometric resistance. I often use it during leg lifts: "imagine you are pressing your leg through mud." It is nice to know that certain cues can be universal!
